Hello Friends!

The morning air was clean and fresh.  The day was new.  I'd slept really well and woke up feeling happy.  So I went to a place I hadn't worked at for a couple of years with the mindset of painting something a bit differently.

I found a lovely shaded place by a pond that had been newly landscaped since I'd last seen it.  It was so changed that the scenery was completely unexpected.  So.... how to approach it?  It seemed clear that I should work at it in conjunction with the moment I was in.  Fresh morning, fresh scenery, happy mood...I set my goal at painting it all with a clean, bright palette of colors and an airy composition.  Don't overwork the brushstrokes, don't muddy the colors.  I put a very small turtle in the right foreground because well, I like turtles.  And we all need some grounding when we are flying a little high.

I'm writing this the day after I painted and the air is changing today, getting heavier and denser.  I might be coughing later, I know.  But I still carry the bright light that was yesterday morning.  Today I'm going to deliver some paintings to an exhibit at the Lebanon Picture Frame and Gallery, another bright light in the art community.  Sunny can go with me to keep me company and the hardware store I'll be stopping in at also welcomes dogs.  I'm wearing a pretty summer dress because it is going to be a hot one and I won't be painting outside today.

I love the small joys of life.

I hope you are enjoying your summer days also.

Take care!
